TEXTURED BEANIE

Materials needed:

• Size I (5.5mm) Crochet Hook 
• Worsted Weight Yarn in two colors (I use Lily Sugar ‘n Cream Cotton Yarn)
• 60-90 yds of Color A. I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Robin’s Egg Blue 
• 20-50 yds of Color B. I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Ecru
• Stitch Marker
• Tapestry Needle (for weaving ends)
• ½” sized Ribbon (optional)

Finished Measurements:

•  0-3 Months – 12‐13”

Abbreviations:

sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sk – skip
sc – single crochet
hdc – half-double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
FPdc – Front Post double crochet
BPdc – Back Post double crochet

Gauge:

6 stitches=1” 2 rows=1”

Notes:

This hat is worked in a continuous round. Do not join unless otherwise noted in the pattern.

Hat Instructions:

 

0-3 Months:

With Color A

Magic Circle, ch 1.
Round 1: 8 hdc into the magic circle. (8)
Round 2: 2 hdc into each st around. (16)
Round 3: *1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st** Repeat from * to ** around. (24)
Round 4: *1 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st** Repeat from * to ** around. (32)
Round 5: *1 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st** Repeat from * to ** around. (40)
Round 6: *hdc in next st, sl st in next st.** Repeat from * to ** around. (40)
Round 7: *sl st in next st, hdc in next st.** Repeat from * to ** around. (40)
Round 8-11: Repeat rounds 6 and 7, alternating.
Round 12: Repeat round 6. Join in beginning hdc. (40)

Change to Color B

Round 13: Ch 3. dc into each st around. Join in beginning dc. (40)
Round 14: Ch 3. *FPdc around the next dc from previous round, BPdc around the next dc from previous round** Repeat from * to ** around, Join in beginning dc. (40)
Round 15: Repeat round 13.
Round 16: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join in beginning sc. Fasten off, weave ends. (40)

Optional: Thread ribbon through the posts of rows 12-13. Tie into a bow on the side of the hat.
